Tips and Tricks - If you press and hold the left mouse button over the status bar then you will see there amount of deleted in current session files and their total size.
- If the program failed during execution and could not quit normally then it may not start next time. This problem can be solved with two ways: logging user off or simply starting DupKiller with the -r key (for example, Start=>Run=>"C:\Program Files\DupKiller\DupKiller.exe" -r). Another way is Start=>Programs=>DupKiller=>Run in Safe Mode.
- Running DupKiller first time, it is recommended to customize exclusion lists. To do it, perform a scan without content comparison, after that in the duplicate file list on necessary folders from context menu, choose the Exclude This Folder from Current List command. Be sure to check the Also exclude this folder from the future searches option. And do not forget to save program settings on exit!
- Some advices about how to use the autoselect feature:
- For example, if there are two folders with music in disc D:, each of both having subfolders with music files, then to select subfolder files only, you may type D:\Music1\*\*.* and D:\Music2\*\*.* in the upper list. In the lower list, choose the second path to select. In this case the files will be selected at the first and second levels relatively Music2 (e.g., D:\Music2 or D:\Music2\DJ Somebody). If you need to select files just at Music2, then type D:\Music2\*.* instead of D:\Music2\*\*.*. To select subfolders of the second level -- D:\Music2\?*\*.*. To select all subfolders of Music2 -- D:\Music2\**\*.*, beginning from the second level -- D:\Music2\*\**\*.*.
- If D:\Music has the Dupes folder with files to be selected, then you may use the pair of D:\Music\**\*.* and D:\Music\Dupes\**\*.*, after that choose the second line to remove.
- To select all folders named Temp from all drives use wildcard ?:**\Temp\*.*.
- To select all folders which names contain XXX, use ?:\**XXX**\*.*.
- Choosing all folders from all drives, to select files from D: only, you may use the pair of ?:**\*.* and D:**\*.*, choosing D:**\*.* to be removed.
